Indian Navy SSC IT Officer Recruitment 2026: Selection Process — Three Stages

The Indian Navy SSC IT Officer Recruitment 2026 selection follows a three-stage process with no written examination:

Stage 1 — Shortlisting Based on Normalised Degree Marks:
The Indian Navy shortlists candidates from all valid applications based on normalised marks in the qualifying degree. Normalisation accounts for differences in grading standards across universities and degree programmes using the formula available at joinindiannavy.gov.in/files/normalisation.pdf. Only shortlisted candidates receive a call for SSB.

Stage 2 — SSB Interview (Services Selection Board):
Shortlisted candidates appear for a 5-day SSB Interview at one of the SSB centres designated by the Indian Navy. The SSB assesses Officer Like Qualities (OLQs) through psychological tests, Group Testing Officer (GTO) tasks, and a Personal Interview. The final merit list for selection is based exclusively on SSB marks — degree marks do not count in the final ranking.

Stage 3 — Medical Examination:
SSB-recommended candidates undergo a comprehensive medical examination at a designated military hospital. Appointment as Sub Lieutenant depends on police verification, character verification, and passing the medical fitness test as per Indian Navy standards.
